Track 1: Skidpads – Hydroplaning

Michelin Laurens Proving Grounds Track 1

Overview

Track 1 contains two skidpads: B1 which has an asphalt surface, and B2, which is polished concrete. Both are used to test lateral adherence under wet conditions. These hydroplaning tracks are useful not only for development of tires and vehicles, but also for driver training and special events.

  • B2: 790 ft diameter (120 m radius)

Surfaces / Surface Textures (Macro/Micro) / Aggregate

  • B1: Asphalt / Rough/Smooth / Limestone
  • B2: Concrete / Smooth/Smooth / N/A

Usage / Features
